I used mailto: on purpose, as it allows people who do use it to click it and pop open their email editor no matter the device but also allows people to right-click or hold to copy it into the mail editor of choice.
I think spam is a personal problem. Whether I get spam or not shouldn’t affect the person who uses the website. I want people to email me in the easiest way possible. If that’s spam then so be it! No need to obfuscate things for the sake of robots or my own convenience.
