    when i see things like this, it reminds me how hopelessly behind the curve i've fallen in front-end dev.

      There are so many different routes to go for a front end developer (sass/canvas/js animation, application architecture, jQuery slinging, data viz).

      Don't get down on yourself.

      I think we can all agree it gets overwhelming.
