This is what makes me think it is fake.
It only needs to connect to wifi when you click the button. Battery life is not a trivial issue here but if you're pressing the button occasionally (1/wk - 1/mo) the power issue is very different than if you're pressing it all the time.
It could be like the Hue Tap which is kinetic powered and requires no batteries at all. http://www2.meethue.com/en-us/the-range/hue-tap/

This seems like such a headache, just a silly trinket i'd have to worry about charging since you know the battery will die constantly if connected to wifi.
